With over twenty years of experience in theater, print, commericals, television and motion pictures, this Chicago born make-up artist has done it all. “People often ask me which I prefer doing beauty make-up or special effects make-up. The truth is I enjoy both equally. I find that having skills in each catagory makes me a better and more well-rounded artist. In addition to ‘keeping it fresh’ for me I find that many clientsfind this to be a great assest for them as well, sort of a one stop make-up artist.” Some of James’ clients have been as varied as the nationally published ads of the bridal gown company Saison Blanche to creating severed heads and other casualties for various horror films. Having worked at the Lyric Opera of Chicago for nine seasons, James moved on to work in television, his work on the sci-fi adventure show “Space Rangers” was nominated for an Emmy.

Other high profile work includes that of films such as “My Son, My Son What Have Ye Done”, “Home Alone 2”, “U.S. Marshals” and “My Best Friends Wedding” building artifical human organs for “Grey’s Antomy” as well as character make-up for various Altoid ads. Currently residing in Los Angles, James periodically teaches classes on all aspects of make-up and traveling nationally and internationally on jobs requiring his diverse make-up talents.
